EuroBirdNet |
|
EBN is a network covering a number of European countries, started already in 1990. That was in the days of Earn and Bitnet, before Internet existed ! See the History Page.
The aim is to report rare bird sightings, invasions, and migration. It's also open for discussions on identification, systematics, requests for hotspots & accomodation, travel reports etc.
Some participating countries have coordinators. These collects national bird reports and sends them out on the net, often as weekly or monthly reports.

Since several countries have jumped off and back on again during the years I have deleted the list of country coordinators. The main contributors are the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, Portugal , France and some more. Several other seems to be satisfied with their local maillists, like UK, Germany and Norway, which I think is sad. There are also other lists popping up and then dying off. But EBN is THE major European list, started already 1990. |

The Holarctic List, version 2.
The Official Swedish list of names of all birds in the Holarctic Region.
(Includes the Palearctic region, the Arabian peninsula and the Nearctic region; North America north of Mexico).
This is a web version of the official list with Swedish, English and Scientific names on all species in the Holarctic Region by the Swedish Bird Name Committee of the Swedish Ornithological Society (SOF). In Dec 2003 the newly formed Taxonomic Committee released a number of taxonomic changes, they are all implemented in this "version 2" of the Holarctic list. For example are the orders Anseriformes (wildfowl) and Galliiformes moved to the beginning of the list.
This is the only Holarctic list on the Internet listing bird names in both Swedish, English and Scientific names + info about species recorded in Sweden; breeding, migrating & vagrants (all accepted records by the Swedish Rarities Committee up to 2005). Updated Jan 10, 2010 with new systematic and taxonomic information from the second report of TC. Split in 6 parts for faster loading.
Part 1: Non Passerines 1 (344 species)
Part 2: Non Passerines 2 (375 species)
Part 3: Non Passerines 3 (263 species)
Part 4: Passerines 1 (292 species)
Part 5: Passerines 2 (409 species)
Part 6: Passerines 3 (332 species)
